The list of forty of the world’s culinary and cultural centres was drawn up by the publication’s editors and experts, with Esquerra de l’Eixample in Barcelona topping the list and Yarraville featuring as the only Melbourne suburb.
This acknowledgement from Time Out, based on the opinions of locals around the world, showcases Yarraville’s community spirit where a relatively small neighbourhood has pulled together with both its residents and businesses supporting one another, particularly during Melbourne’s extended lockdown(s). The multicultural locals truly love their westside suburb with its variety of native cuisines and notable venues with stories to tell such as the art deco Sun Theatre cinema and other heritage sites including the railway crossing gates constructed in the late 1800s and the CSR sugar refinery, just across the road from the Sugarhill Business Park.
